Farming in King Ferry, New York since 1863

Agriculture and the Fessenden family have been synonymous in Southern Cayuga County since the 19th Century.

A glimpse into the past would show a small farm purchased by the family in 1863 on the same site as today's operation. As the years went by the rich soil and the family's dedication to the land and the livestock helped the farm to prosper.

The marketing of milk off the farm began in 1918. At that time, 10-15 cows were milked by hand. Each cow produced about 2 gallons of milk per day. Today, the farm focuses on milk production from Holstein cows and the production of the crops necessary to feed our 550 cows and 500 heifers. Advances in genetics, better forage and feeds, comfortable housing for cows, and exceptional care by our employees allows our cows to produce in excess of 11 gallons of milk per day per cow.

Take your time visiting the site. The internet is something new but our commitment to the land and community is long-standing and our family plans to be around for another hundred or more years.
