Farming in King Ferry, New York since 1863

Marketing milk off the farm began 1918, at that time 10-15 cows were milked by hand, each cow producing about 2 gallons of milk per day. A lot has changed, advances in genetics, better forages and feeds, comfortable housing for the cows, and exceptional care by the employees of the farm allow our cows to produce in excess of 11 gallons per day, average per cow!

Today our farm is home to 550 cows and 500 heifers (future cows). The cows are milked three times each day at 8-hour intervals. The cows are milked in a milking parlor using milking machines. One person can operate this parlor, milking 80-90 cows per hour.

The milk produced on our farm is shipped daily to a milk bottling plant near New York City, and then sold in stores in NYC. We sell our milk through Dairylea, a milk marketing company in Syracuse. On an average day, our farm will send 5000 gallons of milk to be bottled.
