Step 6 - Earthworms can rapidly multiply when they have the proper temperature, food and moisture. Red wigglers' selective ingestion and burrowing activity promotes a vital "vermicompost" with beneficial soil organisms, nutrients and organic matter. Step 7- The Fessendens have built extensive worm beds and continue to expand. Their high quality vermicompost, Tender Loving Compost is available to more growers and gardeners. Step 8 - The separated liquid manure, following treatment through aeration, is irrigated inside two 100' x 30' greenhouses. The process of using a bed of soil, plants and worms to treat the liquid manure is known as vegetated, vermi-activated biofiltration.
