Step 11 - The biofilter beds are irrigated with the separated liquid manure. To date the biofilters are able to remove 99% of the applied phosphorus and over 75% of applied nitrogen as sampled in the resulting liquid filtrate. Efforts are on-going to increase the loading rates of manure.
